Venturing Into the Lower 48 : Juneau

So I finally have a minute to take a break and edit some photos. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know that my boyfriend and I are on a five week vacation (yes, I'm very lucky).
We have been running around like crazy, all over the state of Arizona and California too. But our journey starts in Juneau.
To leave Skagway, people must either fly or take a ferry.  Though the ferry takes 5-6 hours, Sam and I decided on this route of transportation for the view.
And it did not disappoint! Surrounded by mountains, the moon and stars, it was a dream!
Upon arriving in Juneau, we checked into the Driftwood Hotel, ate some delicious Mexican food and chilled out for the rest of the night.
The following day we meandered through downtown and visited the most amazing glacier I have ever seen.
Mendenhall Glacier is normally only accessible by kayak, but the lake was frozen.
People were ice skating, playing hockey, running around etc. So Sam and I decided to walk across the lake to the edge of the glacier.
And it took a long time - a very long time.
But it was so worth it! Sure I was terrified of the ice cracking, but stepping into that blue wall of ice was an experience I will never forget.
Sam stepped on a slushy piece of ice and fell through (don't worry- he's fine), I fell on the ice (i'm fine too). Basically what I'm trying to say is that it was awesome.
Here are a few photos to transport you into a winter wonderland!
Photos taken with Canon Mark 5D II and Go Pro Hero4 Black.
