Snow Covered Beaches: Tristan, Olivia and Opal

I have been so fortunate to photograph the sweetest families here in Skagway. And this little family is no exception.
Tristan, Olivia, Opal and I ventured out to the Dyea Flats to take some family photos. It had snowed the day before, so the beaches were covered in a thin layer of snow and ice.
But the sky finally opened up and let the sun shine through. Lately, our days have been overcast and cloudy, so any sun we can get is greatly appreciated.
It's quite the experience to photograph. In most places, you only have a few hours of good sunlight for photos, when the sun rises and right before it sets.
But during Alaska winters, all of our sunlight looks like that. Once it peaks over the mountains, it starts to fall behind them. So really, all sunlight its good sunlight.
But even though the sun was shining, it was still very cold.
And Opal dealt with the cold weather like a champ. Eighteen degrees is no joke!
Skagway is such a magical backdrop for photos. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to showcase these beautiful families in this beautiful place.
